Social Networks (SNs) have been successfully used in education, particularly in social knowledge training. However, using universal SNs, such as Facebook or Twitter, to deliver courses has limited the effect of education and training due to the lack of support from educational services. It is necessary to develop an educational SN that can provide a better support for education in universities. This paper describes the development of an educational SN integrating social features of SNs with academic features of educational training. The developed educational SN has shown certain advantages in comparison with the deployment of universal SNs or the usage of Learning Management Systems.
